Consistently reliable travel insurance

I've used Freely for a few years now, mostly for their Annual Multi-Trip Insurance. This last time, I added the Snow Sports Cover for a quick ski trip. Always reliable, the app works well, and renewing is a breeze. It's why I keep coming back. The coverage options are consistent, and I've never had an issue getting what I needed.

Bought Overseas Travel Insurance for my Europe trip. App was easy to use. Policy was clear. No issues. Covered what I needed.

Easy to get cover

I got the Single Trip Insurance for my trip to Mexico last month. Setting it up on the app was pretty straightforward. Took me maybe 10 minutes from start to finish. Good to know I was covered, even though I didn't need to use it. Just felt good having that peace of mind while I was away.

Decent coverage, minor app glitch

I bought the Comprehensive Travel Insurance and added Gadget Cover for my recent trip. The coverage itself seemed pretty good for the price, and it was easy to understand the policy details. However, I had a small hiccup with the app when trying to activate a boost for an adventure activity; it froze once, but a restart fixed it. Delivery of the policy documents was instant, and contacting support through the chat was surprisingly quick. Overall, a solid choice, just a tiny bit of refinement needed on the app's stability.

Good value on family plan

I was looking for Family Travel Insurance for our summer vacation, and Freely came up. I compared a few places, and their price was quite competitive. I also snagged a first trip discount, which helped a lot. For what we paid, the coverage seemed solid, especially for the kids. It felt like a smart purchase that didn't break the bank, giving us good peace of mind for our budget.

Are there any student discounts for Freely? Or any first-time user promos right now?

T Thomas Gonzalez 3 weeks ago
I think they sometimes have student discounts, but it's usually tied to specific promotions so you'd have to check their app or website. First-time user promos pop up sometimes, often if you sign up through their app.

I got a small discount when I first downloaded the app and signed up, it was like 5% off my first policy. Not sure about student specific ones though.

Thinking of switching from InsureandGo to Freely for an annual multi-trip plan. How do Freely's 'boosts' work if I'm already traveling and decide I want to add something like snow sports cover?

M Matt Young 3 weeks ago
You can add them right from the app, even if you're already on your trip. It's super easy, just a few taps. I added the adventure boost when I decided to go bungee jumping in New Zealand.

Yep, can confirm. That's one of the best things about Freely. You just go into the app and activate whatever 'boost' you need. It's instant.

Is Freely legit? Never heard of them before, usually go with World Nomads but Freely's prices are looking pretty good.

Yeah they're legit. They're actually part of Cover-More, which is a pretty big name in travel insurance. I usually use Fast Cover, but Freely has been good for shorter trips when I want to customize coverage.

Wondering about referral codes for Freely. Does anyone have one they can share, or know how those work for new users?

M Matt Smith 1 month ago
You usually get a discount for signing up through someone's referral. It's usually like 10-20 bucks off. You enter it when you're getting a quote in the app.

Yeah, if a friend refers you, they send you a link or a code. You put it in when you're getting your quote in the Freely app. I got a tenner off my first policy with one.

Does anyone know if Freely covers existing medical conditions? Or is that a no-go like most other policies?

B Brandon Brown 2 weeks ago
They might, but you definitely have to declare everything when you apply. It might cost more or they might exclude certain conditions, but it's not an automatic no. You'd need to go through their questionnaire.

My friend had a pre-existing condition and they covered it, but she had to answer a bunch of questions and it was an additional premium. So it's not a blanket exclusion.
